FAQ

Traditional tuition/agencies will require lessons every week but for me personally, I don’t believe in having weekly tuition. Not every student needs it weekly because of various reasons – over exhaustion and unable to absorb whatever that was taught and it defeats the purpose of having tuition. (I actually have a student that doesn’t revise her work since day 1 and I have been repeating the same thing for 7 months! Mind you, she has 4 tutors…)

Teaching is NOT just about money and I sincerely care for my students’ emotional well-being and progress as well)
It will just end up wasting money and time on both sides, even causing the student to be burnt out and lose interest in the subject.

Therefore, I will only be there when you need help in your homework or whichever areas you are weak at. That means flexible scheduling (don’t have to be the same day weekly) and payment will only be collected after each lesson. Having weekly tuition doesn’t guarantee A1 – Sometimes LESS is MORE because we are only going for quality and productivity 🙂

It is one of the things that makes my eyes roll when I hear other tutors guarantee results. No one can guarantee anything in life. There are plenty of external factors that are beyond my control. I.e Teacher-Student Chemistry, Student’s mentality, Interest in the subject.

If a student hates the subject and refuses to invest effort to practise, even the best teacher in this world won’t be able to help. If that really happens, I will strongly suggest them to take up a subject that they are passionate about, be it music or arts. The student’s emotional well-being is very important to me as well.

I believe in Quality and not Quantity. Similarly, an 8-hour practice on piano doesn’t mean it is better than a 45 minutes or an hour practice. Moreover, most students have short concentration span due to fatigue from long hours of School activities and having to revise other subjects as well.

It is to maximise the benefits for each lesson. In this way, you won’t be wasting your time and money.
Of course, I can ask for 2 hours to earn that extra cash but teaching to me is more than just monetary benefits! Don’t worry, I will make sure I cover everything that needs to be covered within the 1.5 hours!

My current policy is I don’t give make up lessons unless I am the one who cancels the lessons. So you only pay when there’s lesson. This is to prevent constant rescheduling. Your understanding is much appreciated 🙂
